Alyona CheGrand Sea View & Cocochine Hotels
Starting our trip to Vietnam, we arrived to Da Nang airport after exhausting 26 hours of traveling with our 2-year old son. We had an 11-hour flight to Singapore with 6 hours layover, then 2+ hours to Ho Chi Minh airport. After several hours there, we finally got on our plane to Da Nang.
When planning this trip, we knew that it would be hard and we would need a clean and comfortable place to “recover” after this difficult start. So, we were determined to book a good value-for-money hotel, where we could relax, adapt to the new climate/time zone/food, etc.
There are plenty of hotels in Da Nang, but we finally chose to stay in 2 hotels of the same chain, a VIE collection – Grand Sea View and Cocochine.
Why did we choose these hotels?
Initially, we chose Grand Sea View hotel, because of the nice rooftop swimming pool (it was a must for us since Ektoras loves water and swimming). We liked Deluxe Double Room with a balcony, which was not available for all the days we needed, unfortunately. When we contacted the hotel, they suggested us giving a try to their new hotel for the rest of the nights, just nearby, and we agreed. The hotels are located very close to each other, so it was easy for us to move from one to another.
We also preferred these hotels because prices are more than reasonable, breakfast included, while the reviews are very good.
We liked that both hotels are very close to My Khe beach, where we could walk and play freely with our toddler. The location is just 3-5 minutes ride from the city center (actually we even went there on foot, but it is quite a walk). And only 10-15 minutes ride to the beautiful Marble Mountains.
Our impressions of Grand Sea View Hotel
The hotel is not very new and some things do not look so beautiful in real, as in the pictures. However, we still found it lovely and had a wonderful time there. Our room was spacious and clean, all the members of the staff were friendly, and the hotel manager Hue took care of every request. We loved the breakfast because it had plenty of traditional Vietnamese dishes, lots of fresh fruits, egg station. The rooftop swimming pool is exactly as nice as shown at the pictures and we enjoyed it during the midday heat.
- At Đà Nẵng An Thường Night Market, which is very close to the hotel you can try delicious meals from all over the world. It is a small night market compared to others, but for sure very interesting and easy to go with the kids.
Our time at Cocochine Hotel
We liked this hotel from the first sight, maybe it suits our taste better. Small, modern and bright, with all the necessary facilities and reasonable prices for Spa and other services. Wonderful and cheap coffee in the cafeteria just outside the reception, which we will remember as the best we tried during our trip. We also liked that in this hotel there were few tourists, but mainly business travelers, while in the cafeteria there were local employees from nearby businesses.
Alyona did not miss the chance to relax in the jacuzzi, enjoy the sauna and a massage at Bamboo Spa.
Interesting fact
We aren’t just building hotels, we want them to have their own lives.
We were wondering, what “VIE” in the name of the chain stands for. Hue kindly explained to us, that VIE is a short-form name of Vietnam. The philosophy of these hotels is to connect the guests to the Vietnamese spiritual, guide them into an Indochina voyage, let them define the country by their own experiences.
